We are pleased about the invitation of the German Gas Industry to the award ceremony in the presence of Prof. Töpfer, the "Founding Father" of German Sustainability Policy. The prizes were awarded in 5 categories. All impressive innovations with a high impact on sustainability.
The winners:
Greenshipping now has a name AIDAnova: the world's first cruise ship that has no emissions of particulate matter and sulfur oxides because the engine is based on LNG and significantly reduces nitrogen oxide and CO2 emissions. (problem: nearly no infrastructure till now to refuel it...)
KIT Karlsruhe Institute of Technology & Institutes for Advanced Sustainability Studies were awarded for their Methane pyrolysis concept which splits methane into H2 and CO2, thus producing environmentally friendly hydrogen, which will be needed in future, mainly for the increasing number of hydrogen vehicles.
The other categories were start-up, innovative products and efficient energy concepts. The gas industry too, is pushing for sustainability. The focus is mainly on decarbonisation, energy efficieny and as hopeful new innovative export product power-to-gas, power-to-liquid and gas-to-liquid technologies (PtX and GtX).
