Following many discussions at the H2 Forum in Berlin, one message became increasingly clear: hydrogen is no longer only part of the sustainability debate — it is becoming a key element of energy system resilience.
Renewable energy, electrolysis, infrastructure and end-use sectors such as mobility and industry are forming a new value chain. In particular, mobility is often seen as one of the first scalable markets for hydrogen deployment.
The reason is relatively simple: acceptable hydrogen price levels in heavy transport are typically higher than in sectors such as steel or refining, making early projects more viable.
Beyond decarbonisation, hydrogen will increasingly play a role in:
• energy security
• system stability
• storage of surplus renewable energy
In that sense, hydrogen is not only a climate technology – it is becoming a strategic technology for resilient energy systems.
